Meet my 'new' sewing machine ...

Isn't it the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?  The attention to detail is stunning. I'm in love. And it's still in working order. I am planning on doing some work on the table, just sanding it and a coat of varnish or three. I want to table slightly darker so it'll match my other furniture as it's going to double up as my computer desk once I get it sorted.

The machine was my nanna's who sadly passed a few years back. I remember the sewing machine from my childhood, it was fascinating even then, almost as good as my nanna's fabric cupboard where we used to play much to my nanna's annoyance. I wish I'd taken more of an interest in sewing back then as I'm sure she could have taught me a great deal. I'm glad I've finally got the sewing machine home, it's a lovely thing to remember her by.

Pay it Forward 2011

My friend posted this on FB last week...

Pay it Forward 2011- I promise to send something handmade to the first 5 people who leave a comment here. They must in turn post this and send something they make to the first 5 people who comment on their status. *The rules are that it must be handmade by you and it must be sent to your 5 people 'sometime' in 2011.

I love the idea, I'm all for any excuse to knit and try out a few of the weird and wonderful patterns from the anti-craft book (if you're not familiar with the Anti-craft check out their website at http://www.theanticraft.com/, it's adorable). Now I'm faced with the tricky task of deciding what to make and for whom and also to make sure I'll actually finish the projects. I seem to good at starting things but not finishing them, maybe keeping track of progress here will help.

I'm afraid the five lucky (or unlucky) winners have already been chosen so commenting here won't count, sorry. But please feel free to spread the craft love and post the plea in your social media of choice.

Introductions ...

Hi all,

I'm new to blogging so I guess I should say something to introduce myself - I'm simple complicated 20-something gal with a keen interest in sewing, crafts of all kinds, new media, digital gaming and alternative/vintage fashion. I lived in the UK for the past seven years, but I recently decided to return to my native Finland (I'm yet to figure out where that bright idea came from). I'm social, I like people and new places. When I'm not out and about I enjoy knitting and reading. Oh, and I love all things dotty in case you didn't guess.

Over&out for now.
